PIPESTONE COUNTY MEDICAL CENTER WELCOMES DR. MEGAN WILKINSON

Pipestone County Medical Center and Family Clinic Avera (PCMC) is excited to welcome a new physician to its medical staff. Megan Wilkinson, MD, will begin her family medicine and obstetrics practice with PCMC on September 1, 2022, after completing her residency at North Colorado Family Medicine in Greeley, CO, where she is currently an Administrative Chief Resident.

MCC SCHOOL BOARD DISCUSSES BUDGET DEFICIT

Murray County Central School Board met on Monday, March 14th. The minutes from the February 14th meeting were approved as were the financials for the month. The Board looked at projected enrollment numbers and discussed how the decline in the number of students enrolled effects the fund balance for the district.

ADLER COUNSELING, PLLC

The Slayton area is home to a new counseling clinic, with four therapists prepared to serve the emotional and mental health needs of our community in two convenient locations. Adler Counseling, PLLC was founded by Jeremy Adler in June of 2021. Mr. Adler said, “I worked at a community mental health agency for ten years with a goal to get into private practice. I liked the management and supervision work and I wanted to have other good counselors work with me.” “My wife really helped encourage me to get things going, she has been instrumental in the entire process.” Jeremy opened an office in Slayton last June and in July, Ashley Whipkey joined the practice. In August they welcomed Sophie Lingen and in September the team opened an additional office in Pipestone. This month, Tiffany Bose will join the practice as well. All four counselors are trained in general mental health practice and trauma, but each have their own area of expertise.

WIND PRODUCTION TAX REVENUE IS A MAJOR CONCERN

The Murray County Board of Commissioners opened the March 15th meeting by acknowledging the retirement of Nancy Pieske following thirty six years in the Extension office. Economic Development Director was given approval of an $16,000 EDA loan to the Feed Shak.

Local conservation leaders advocated for a new state funding initiative for Soil and Water Conservation Districts at a recent legislative briefing and meetings at the State Capitol March 9-10 in St. Paul.

NAPS (SECOND HARVEST)

FULDA - Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors (NAPS) in the Fulda area, sponsored by Second Harvest Heartland distribution will be by A.C.E. of Southwest Minnesota – Murray County and held at the Fulda Food Shelf at 305 S. Lafayette Ave., Fulda MN. Distribution will take place on Monday, March 21st, from 1:15 – 1:45pm. Remember if you cannot be there, please have your proxy pick your items up for you. FIREARMS SAFETY COURSE IN SLAYTON

Minnesota Firearms Safety classes will be held at the Beaver Creek Archery Club in Slayton (1945 Engebretson Ave) on the following dates: March 22, 24, 29, 31 and April 5 and 7, 2022. Class sessions will run from 5:30 – 8:30pm. The field day is scheduled for Saturday, April 9. Attendance at all class sessions and the field day are mandatory for receiving a firearms safety certificate.
