GOOD NEWS

By John Stenen I was asked by a family member to go to the hospital and minister to an elderly woman who had been given just days to live. This dear woman had been a member of a large denominational Church all of her life but was terrified of dying. She did not know if she was going to heaven or hell. “I’ve tried to do my best” she said. “I tried to do all my Church told me to do to get into heaven but I don’t know if I have done enough.” For several minutes she just cried and cried telling me she was so afraid to die. I held her hand and just reminded her of the great love God has for her. I reminded her that Jesus came for the purpose of bearing all of her sin on the cross so that she could spend eternity with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I told her that all she had to do was open her heart and ask Jesus to come in and cleanse her of all her sin. “For as many as received Him, to them He gave the power to become the children of God.” John 1:12. She prayed with me and told God she was sorry for all her sin and asked Jesus to come into her heart and save her and write her name in the Lamb’s Book of Life. For we are saved by grace through faith and not of works. Eph. 2:8-10. When we finished praying, you would not believe the peace of God that came all over her. Two days later she went home to be with Jesus. If you are trying to earn your way into heaven - you can’t. Do as she did. God bless.
