April has arrived and spring (outside) should also arrive too. Usually, decent spring weather comes about the second week of April (we have had a late snowstorm then too). Then outside things get going one way or another.

GOOD NEWS

A young man in his early thirties spent much of his life doing hard drugs and drinking heavily. He was involved in all manner of immorality. He hated his life and figured that suicide would be better than the life he was living. However, a Christian was able to bring him to Christ. He repented of all his sin and faithfully attended Church. His pastor eventually learned that he could sing and play the guitar and asked him to sing for the Church just prior to next Sunday’s message.

NEW TO MEDICARE VIRTUAL CLASS

Learning what to do when you become eligible for Medicare can seem overwhelming. This class is for people who will be new to Medicare and would like to learn about Medicare Parts A, B, C and D. Topics will include a comprehensive introduction to Medicare including what Medicare covers, supplemental insurance and Part D prescription coverage. During the class you will learn the Medicare enrollment details, how to get the most from your benefits and how to research your Medicare plan options using the Medicare.gov site.

MN WEST SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION DEADLINE

Minnesota West Community and Technical College awarded students of $82,000 in scholarships last year. There are a wide variety of scholarships for new and returning students available through the Minnesota West Foundation and the Minnesota Workforce Development scholarship.

MURRAY COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT INVOLVED IN PURSUIT WITH CAR

On March 15, 2022 at approximately 4:25pm, the Nobles County Sheriff’s Office advised Murray County Sheriff’s Office dispatch that they had been involved in a pursuit with a car, believed to be a white Porsche, and that they had discontinued the pursuit as it was northbound on their County Road 13, entering Murray County. This vehicle was reported to have been involved in pursuits in both Lyon and Osceola counties in Iowa prior to entering Nobles County.

BUILDING MOMENTUM AND SUPPORT FOR THE CASEY JONES TRAIL

From visits with the House and Senate Capitol Investment Committees to securing funding to repair and expand several miles of trail, the Friends of the Casey Jones State Trail has been making significant headway over the last year. While we’re building momentum, we’re looking for community support and volunteers to help accelerate progress on the Casey Jones State Trail.

PARKS BUILDING PROJECT TO PROCEED

The Murray County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday, March 22, 2022. Auditor Treasurer Heidi Winter presented the second pay request for work completed in the renovation of the Courts Building restrooms. This was in the amount of $18,453.775 on a total contract of $101,296.
