THOMAS “TOM” “BUFORD” MICHAEL POSS

Tom Poss was born on April 16, 1963, in Slayton, Minnesota to Raymond and Victoria Lindberg Poss. He grew up in Avoca, MN and graduated from Slayton High School in 1981. Tom then attended Mankato State in Mankato, MN. Following college Tom continued helping his father with is painting business. Tom was the sound and light technician for the band Crash Alley for several years. Tom made his home in Avoca and worked at Avoca Spray and later for Murray County Land Improvement. Tom passed away on Friday, October 2, 2026, at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 63. Tom was sharp minded, always quick with a joke and even quicker with a clever remark. He enjoyed time with his friends, music, movies, bar trivia, Bingo, and he was an avid sports fan especially the Minnesota Vik,ings. Tom was a big online War Games player, he enjoyed playing and connecting with people from all over the world. His love of gaming brought him not only hours of enjoyment, but also friendships and connections that reached far beyond Avoca. Survivors include his two sisters, Patricia Hansen of Brainerd, MN, and Nancy Moore and her husband, David of Edina, MN, four nieces and nephews, Erin and Jason Hardison, and Brynn and Nick Haglin, Sam Moore and Will Moore, five great nieces and nephews, and several other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, and one brother-in-law, Harold Hansen.

Funeral services were at Totzke Funeral Home, Slayton, on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Kory Tedrick officiating. The pallbearers were his family and friends. Interment was at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Avoca, MN with a gathering of family and friends to follow at the Avoca Bar.
