(St. Paul, MN) – With inflation at 40-year highs and working Minnesotans being squeezed more every day by soaring prices for gas, groceries, and energy, Minnesota Senate Republicans today made good on an early session promise to give back Minnesota’s historic $9 billion budget surplus with the largest permanent tax cut in state history.

MCC SCHOOL BOARD MEETS DISCUSSES BUDGET CUTS

Murray County Central School Board met twice in the last two weeks. They first held a special meeting on Monday, April 4th to discuss the budget and where cuts can be taken and also to accept the extended leave to then be a resignation of Todd Burlingame. The Board approved his request and discussed how they can look at filling that position.

The Murray County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on April 5, 2022. Commissioners Molly Malone, Lori Gunnink and Jim Kluis were present for the meeting.

Kelli Miller, Kat Miller and Bobby Keller participated in the 48th Annual Knights of Columbus State Free Throw Championship held on April 2, 2022 at Cathedral High School in St. Cloud.

2022 MURRAY COUNTY DAIRY PRINCESSES CROWNED

SLAYTON, Minn. (4/2/2022) Amber Post, daughter of Grant & April, Lake Wilson, and Lydia Rylaarsdam, daughter of Virgil & Sarah Rylaarsdam of Chandler, will represent the Murray County dairy industry this year.

Good Luck at State Knowledge Bowl

The MCC Senior High Knowledge Bowl team of Logan Steinle, Dawson Blankenship, Brailynn Breberg, Dayton Johnson, and Rylan Engelkes will be participating in the Minnesota Service Cooperative State Knowledge Bowl Tournament on April 7-8 in Brainard, MN. The team is coached by Sue Bau. They placed 2nd at the Regional Knowledge Bowl tournament at SMSU in March. The top three teams advance to participate in the two day tournament. The first day begins with a formal banquet where each team is introduced. This is followed by a 60 question written round in which the team works together. This determines the standings for the next day. The second day has five oral rounds of 45 questions each. The tournament concludes with an awards ceremony. The top six places earn medals from both the A and AA divisions. There is a special spirit award given to the team that shows the best team spirit and character during the competition.

End of Year Planning: Prom, Graduation and Summer School As we round the final turn into Quarter 4, the finish line is in sight! Planning for Prom and Graduation is underway and starting to take on more definition. In regards to prom, it will be held Saturday, April 30th.
