SECTION 3A TRACK AND FIELD OVERGAAUWS QUALIFY FOR STATE TRACK

Twenty three track and field teams from across southwest Minnesota embarked to Montevideo for the Section 3A Track and Field Championships. The top two finishers in each event would automatically qualify for the state meet as anyone that performed at a state standard for that event. The Rebel girls had sixteen entries in the meet while the boys had six.

QUIET TWIN SISTERS MAKE BOLD STATEMENTS ON THE TRACK

Anyone associated with track and field in southwest Minnesota undoubtedly knows who identical twin sisters, Amanda and Ashley Overgaauw are, as the Murray County Central athletes have been forces to be reckoned with for quite a few years.

MCC VS. RTR SECTION 3A LOSERS BRACKET FINAL

As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end, but what a ride it was watching this year’s Rebels baseball team play ball. A tough 5-4 loss would end their season on Tuesday night against RTR, but as always with this team, they were never out of the game and led at two different times. MCC got out to the early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Derek Kluis hit a triple to the right center field gap and Christian Tentinger drove him in on a fielder’s choice ground out.

MCC VS. CENTRAL MINNESOTA CHRISTIAN SECTION BASEBALL

The #2 seed, Central Minnesota Christian, from the North half of the bracket, played the Murray County Central Rebels, the #2 seed in the South half of Section 3A in the baseball playoffs on Thursday night for the chance to advance to the Final Four. TMB defeated Lakeview in the game before the Rebels, with the winner of MCC vs. CMC taking on the Panthers, Saturday.

SECTION 3A BASEBALL MCC VS. TMB

In what would be an instant classic of a baseball game, MCC’s bats came alive against TMB in extra innings to move on in the Section 3A playoffs. The Rebel offense struck early, as they put up two runs in the top of the first inning.

SLAYTON COMMUNITY BAND SUMMER CONCERTS

The Slayton Community Band welcomes you to our first concert at Gullord Park this season on June 8th at 7:00 PM. We will be doing a wide variety of music. We will be featuring a different soloist every week singing 'The Star Spangled Banner.' Singing June 8th will be Jayden Gleis.
