TRACK TEAM COMPETES IN SUB-SECTION MEET

The Rebel track and field teams traveled to Pipestone for the 3A Sub-Section South track meet. Other teams that were included in the meet were; Luverne, Southwest Minnesota Christian/Edgerton, Pipestone Area, Hills-Beaver Creek, Russell-Tyler-Ruthon, Tracy-Milroy-Balaton and Adrian/Ellsworth. The top four finishers in each event would automatically qualify for the section meet while the next top four performances out of all of the sub sections would also qualify as a wildcard.

SOFTBALL SEASON ENDS ON MAY 27 WITH ONE WIN AND ONE LOSS

MCC Rebels vs. Lac Qui Parle Valley The MCC Rebel Softball team was in Marshall on Saturday with their season on the line. The Rebels were in the losers bracket portion of the tournament which meant every game is an elimination game. If you win, you move on. If you lose, you go home. The Rebels were set to take on last year’s Section 3A runner-up Lac Qui Parle Valley. The Eagles were the second seed in the North half of the Section but lost a close game with Yellow Medicine East to face the Rebels. For MCC it was a great matchup.

MCC BASEBALL WINS ONE, LOSES ONE ON MAY 27

First Round: MCC 7, RRC/WWG 0 Second Round: MCC 7, TMB 8 Abe Paulzine threw a shutout to lead MCC past RRC/WWG 7-0 in the first round of the section playoffs. MCC got things started in the first inning when Paulzine’s sac fly scored Derek Kluis.

REBELS WIN MOVES THEM TO NEXT ROUND

Eighth grader Krew Schneider made his playoff debut on the mound for the Rebels and earned his first playoff win as the Rebels defeated Edgerton/ SWC 12-2 in six innings at the Irish Yard outside of Milroy.

REBEL GOLFERS COMPETE IN DAY ONE OF 3A MEET

Day one took place this past Wednesday. On the boys side, 10 teams, as well as a small group of individuals, participated in day one. For the girls, only 5 teams participated with, again, a smaller group of individual girls. In the 3A meet the top four teams and top twentyfive percent of remaining individuals qualify for the second and final day of the tournament. Both of MCC’s squads had a goal in mind, advancing to day two. The girls were able to advance on as a team, but the boys’ team came up short. MCC’s Hudson Schryvers advanced to the second day of competition for the boys.

UNIVERSITY OF SIOUX FALLS SPRING 2023 COMMENCEMENT

The University of Sioux Falls conferred 420 total degrees on Sunday, May 21, at the Sioux Falls Convention Center. Total degrees conferred included 310 undergraduate students and 110 graduate students.
