By John Stenen My son-in-law manages a business with many employees in Sioux Falls. Often he, and many other business owners, and managers, around the country are frustrated at the dismal work habits of so many employees in the workforce today. The workers take extended breaks, and are on the phone or checking the phone far too much during the day. Some do not think they have to work everyday, and take off and do not even think they need to call in, to say they will not be there that day. The list could go on but I am sure you all know what I am talking about. Many of these people claim to be Christians; yet they have such poor work habits. I read years ago when the Christians in Russia were persecuted horribly for their faith in Christ. However, the authorities realized that they were not drunk on vodka like so many other workers. They saw that the Christians were faithful to their work, on time, did a very good job, etc. So rather than imprison them they thrust them into the workforce, where they performed well and also took advantage to witness about Jesus Christ; and the underground Church flourished. Scripture tells us in Colossians 3:23-24, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”
