Garden work is now limited to week-ends and a little time before sunset. Farmers are gearing up and getting ready for harvest. This writer remembers about this time it was time to fill silo so the cattle would have feed over winter.

HEALTHY AGING MONTH PROGRAMMING IN SEPTEMBER

The population of older adults in the U.S. is steadily increasing, and people are living longer than ever before. September is Healthy Aging Month, a time to celebrate the positive aspects of aging and explore ways to enhance the wellbeing of older individuals. Healthy aging encompasses maintaining and improving physical, mental, spiritual, financial and social health.

MCC READY TO START THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR

THESE FRESH NEW FACES ARE READY TO GREET STUDENTS Wolske recently moved back to the Slayton area with her four boys, ages 17, 16, 13 and 12, in order to be closer to family. While preparing her classroom, she said she received a lot of help from her niece, Danielle Kuball, and that her boys assisted with all the heavy lifting.

MCC VOLLEYBALL STARTS THE SEASON AGAINST A TOUGH CANBY TEAM

The MCC Rebel Volleyball team played their first game of the season this past Thursday night. The Rebels are coming off a 12-14 season a year ago which was their most wins in a season since 2018 but now the Rebels need to take the next step. The Rebels, to do that, will be mixing some very experienced players with some young talent. The Rebels first opponents are one of the favor-ites to win the Section 3A tournament this season and if you are contending for the Section 3A crown you are a favorite for a state title.

MCC/F WARRIORS KICK OFF SEASON AT MARSHALL INVITATIONAL

By Allie Paulzine, Student Reporter The Warrior cross country team kicked off the 2024 season in Marshall on Tuesday, August 27th. There were five teams present at this meet including Marshall, Luverne, SWMNCH-ES, Worthington, and Murray County Central/ Fulda.

FRIENDS OF THE CASEY JONES TRAIL TO HOST RIBBON CUTTING FOR WOODSTOCK SECTION OF THE CASEY JONES STATE TRAIL

The Friends of the Casey Jones Trail are excited to announce the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Woodstock section of the Casey Jones State Trail. The event will take place on Sunday, September 8th, starting at 2:00 PM. All community members are invited to join the celebration by walking or biking the newly completed trail segment from Woodstock to Pipestone. Free burgers and hot dogs for all registered participants. Registration QR code can be found on the flyer posted to the Friends of Casey Jones Facebook page along with your name entered for prizes.
