JUNIOR HIGH BASEBALL ENDS SUCCESSFUL SEASON

Junior high baseball teams from Murray County Central had successful spring seasons, offering promise that the school’s excellent tradition on the diamond will continue for years. The MCC 7th-grade team won 15 of 18 games, losing twice to teams from Marshall and once to Windom.

UPCYCLING ANIMAL FEED COULD BE THE SOLUTION TO FOOD WASTE PROBLEM

University of Minnesota animal science professor and extension educator Dr. Gerald Shurson is working on a study that could help eliminate the growing problem of human food waste in America. Shurson says across the country many animal scientists and entrepreneurs are searching for solutions to address the growing problem of food waste.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY ANNOUNCES FRONT PORCH MUSIC CONCERTS LINEUP

The Murray County Historical Society invites the public to attend its free Front Porch Music Series concerts. This year, we’re offering four concerts; one in Currie and three in Slayton. For the first time, the Historical Society will be partnering with End-O-Line Railroad Park and Museum in Currie (address: 440 North Mill Street) to host a bonus concert in honor of the park’s 50th anniversary. The Slayton concerts will be held at the historic Dinehart Holt House at 2812 Linden Avenue. Bring your own lawn chair or blanket. Free refreshments will be available. Each concert begins at 7pm and will feature the following performances:

4-H Interstate Exchange Group from Kansas Visits Murray County

4-H Interstate Exchange is a program within 4-H that gives youth the opportunity to visit other communities throughout the U.S. The week of June 5 - June 9 a group of 4-Hers from Jefferson County, Kansas are visiting Murray County. During their stay in Murray County, this group participated in a variety of different learning, leadership, and fun activities. This group made stops throughout the county and surrounding areas including Lingen Dairy, Pipestone National Monument, Camden State Park, The Grain Exchange and shopping on main street in Slayton. Next summer Murray County 4-H’ers will travel to Jefferson County, Kansas and spend a week with the youth they hosted this summer and their family. FATHER DAUGHTER PROM SET FOR SUNDAY, JUNE 26, 2022

The Slayton Women of Today is once again excited to be sponsoring their annual Father Daughter Prom on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at Gullord Park in Slayton. Dads it’s time to make some special memories with your daughter(s). Dance the afternoon away at the park with music by DJ Pete Beerman.

Question: We were driving down the interstate the other day and I was passed by a vehicle and I noticed the front passenger had their feet up on the front dash. This was a newer vehicle so I know there are air bags and this got me wondering if this was legal.

SLAYTON AREA COMMUNITY BAND CONCERT JUNE 23RD

The Slayton Community Band will be performing at Gullord Park on Thursday, June 23 at 7:00 P.M. The band is made up of many sections and EVERY section is important. Band is a T.E.A.M. (Together Everyone Achieves More) effort. For this concert, we will especially be featuring our Trombones, Tubas, and Clarinets! We will start our concert with the National Anthem followed by “Sinantra in Concert”, “Beach Boys On Stage”, “Lassus Trombone”, “Scott Joplin Tribute”, “The Washington Post March” (this is our young people’s march this week), “Tubas on the Run”, “Your Father’s Mustache”, and “Clarinet Hoedown”. You will not want to miss this concert! Come on out and support the band!
