GET THE DIRT

Weed, water, and fertilize as needed. It is time to mulch perennials and bulbs if not already done.

GOOD NEWS

Doctors and nurses are wonderful and help people tremendously. But what if they can do no more to help you. This is the case with many people. Is there no more hope? In Mark 5: 25- 34 we see the story of the woman with the issue of blood which lingered with her for twelve long years. She spent all her money on doctors and only grew worse. The good news was that someone told her about Jesus the Great Physician who was healing all who came to Him. She believed what she heard; she went to Jesus confessing, “If I but touch the hem of His garment I shall be healed.” She got to Jesus and reached out in faith and touched His garment and virtue (power) went forth from Jesus and she was healed.

GREEN THUMB

Very recently we said in this column we still needed the house furnace. Now, with temperatures in the 80s, the A/C is quite handy and appreciated.

Over-Easy Please When ordering up, I like my eggs over-easy. Truth-be-told, that’s exactly how I like life, too.

CURRIE CELEBRATES SESQUICENTENNIAL

This year’s Currie Town & Country Celebration will mark the 150th anniversary of the town of Currie and the 50th anniversary of the End-O-Line Railroad Park and Museum. Activities are planned from July 1st-4th, culminating with the largest and most expensive fireworks display to date. “We’ve spent more money and upgraded the system so it is safer and faster,” said committee member Shari Thomas. “Luke Radke runs the display and he does a fantastic job. We put on a good show and a great party!”

NEW OWNERS!!

Exciting things happening at 507 Designs in Slayton. Chandra and Dillon Carlson are the new owners of the clothing design company effective July 1st. They are excited to keep the same name and location and great service for the Slayton area and surrounding communities. Jodi Beckmann will also still be an important part of the design team at 507 Designs. Katie was happy to turn over the reigns as she is familiar with their dedication to community and family from her relationship with them at Carlson

GIRLS TRACK TEAM PERFORMS WELL AT STATE MEET

At the start of the 2022 track season, many athletes set goals of making the state meet. Although track implemented a third class for the first time this year, it had little effect on the smaller schools, as the AA schools were broken down into two classes. Class A (which MCC is a part of) remains the largest class in the state comprising of 192 teams. Each individual event has the possibility of 576 student athletes vying for one of the sixteen state qualifying spots. MCC had three girls (Brylei Schreier - 400, Ashley Overgaauw - 800, Amanda Overgaauw - 3200) that had earned one of those spots. That trio was joined by Sophia Nelson for the 4x800 relay to give the team a total of four events participating in the 2022 State Track and Field meet.
