With the summer season kickstarting recently, the local venues of Breezy Barn and Trail’s Edge have become busy, go-to places on Lake Shetek’s west side. Once the bridge work is completed and the detour lifted, both businesses anticipate even more traffic.

Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors (NAPS) in the Slayton area, sponsored by Second Harvest Heartland distribution will be held at the office of A.C.E. of Southwest Minnesota - Murray County at 2989 Maple Rd., Slayton MN. SLAYTON – Dirt work is underway for the new Murray County Highway Department site, located off Highway 30 near the airport. According to Job Supervisor Jim Theurer of Contegrity Group, a completion date of June 2024 is the goal, but there will be no lack of action at the site over the summer.

Libraries in the Plum Creek Library System (PCLS) are rolling out their new Storytelling Kits this month and invite patrons to learn more about the new collection of more than 130 kits. Funded through the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund (ACHF), the kits range in subjects from ABCs to Zoos.

Come check out Keeley Island this Memorial Day weekend! For the past 15 years, Keeley Island residents have lined the road with small flags for the holidays. At the summer picnic last year, it was decided to step things up. Nobles Coop and Murray County were contacted for permission to put up 3x5 American Flags from the utility poles. The flags needed to be 8 feet off the ground, and they needed to run parallel to the road. Donations were requested from residents, and they had the option to purchase a flag in memory or honor of someone if they wanted. There will be 50+ flags displayed!
