SLAYTON – Dirt work is underway for the new Murray County Highway Department site, located off Highway 30 near the airport.

According to Job Supervisor Jim Theurer of Contegrity Group, a completion date of June 2024 is the goal, but there will be no lack of action at the site over the summer. Footing will be poured in the next two weeks, and walls will not be far behind. A crane will be used to swing wall sections into place. This process could be finished within eight days or take significantly longer if weather and wind are a factor.

Theurer said work inside the building will be able to continue over the winter, keeping construction on pace for the 2024 completion.
