EMPLOYEE WELLNESS ENCOURAGED AT FULDA PUBLIC SCHOOL This past fall, Fulda Public School signed up to participate in the Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP) worksite wellness collaborative, alongside other school partners. SHIP works with community partners, like Fulda Public School, to create and expand opportunities for all Minnesotans to be more physically active, eat healthier foods, encourage breastfeeding and live free from commercial tobacco, thereby improving lives and decreasing chronic disease in our communities.

The Murray County Central School Board covered a full slate of business during its Monday, June 12 meeting at the MCC School Library. After approving the agenda, minutes and claims, the Business Director Lisa Rademacher shared that the preliminary expense and revenue budget for Fiscal Year 24 was challenging to project since there were so many moving parts.

I am writing on behalf of the Murray County Central School District to ask for a donation to help cover a portion of the cost for our new competition gym floor project. This project will replace the original 66-year-old floor that was installed in 1957.

The 2022 audit presentation was among a dozen items of new business addressed by the Slayton City Council on Monday at City Hall. After four items were added to the agenda, minutes were approved as printed and claims were also approved, CPA Katie Jacobson shared the preliminary results of the 2022 audit.

Morningside University Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Chris Spicer announced the 446 students named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester of the 2022-23 academic year. The Dean’s List recognizes Morningside students who achieve a 3.67-grade point average or better and complete at least 12 credits of coursework with no grade below a “C-.” Students that achieved a 4.0-grade point average are denoted with an asterisk (*).

The Wilder Outdoor Theater was awarded two grants to assist in the staging for its new summer production, Part Two of the Fragments of a Dream Trilogy, “CHASING THE DREAM” that follows the life of Laura Ingalls and her family during their time in Walnut Grove. The production requires some added staging as it takes place more in the town of Walnut Grove during the years 1875 to 1876.

Murray County is once again getting ready for Relay For Life 2023. Katie Hoffman and Glenn Crowley will be the Honorary Chairs for 2023. Join us in honoring them as well as all cancer survivors at this year’s relay.

Slayton, MN – Murray County Medical Center, Slayton EMS, Slayton Police, Slayton Fire Department, and Community Blood Bank will the annual Heroes Behind the Badges blood drive Wednesday, June 21 between 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with donor registration located in the lobby of MCMC. The public will have an opportunity to donate blood to help local patients in need and support the local heroes. Donors can schedule an appointment by logging onto www.cbblifeblood. org, selecting “events”, June 21st and Murray County Medical Center or call 507-836-1286. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are encouraged. All who donate receives a Subway gift card and an All American blood donor t-shirt, as a thank you.
