The Murray County Central Rebels were not able to keep up with the serving strength and undeniable defensive play of the host Heron Lake- Okabena - Fulda Coyotes on September 19 in Okabena.
The Rebels fell to the Coyotes in three straight sets in conference action, 14-25, 1225 and a dismal final 5-25.
MCC tried as they may in sets one and two, could not get into a rhythm. Any spark of hope was quickly diminished by HLO-F servers. The Rebels, typically a strong serve/receive team did not fit the mold tonight.
Emmi Peltola recorded the only ace serve for the night and contributed 9 digs behind an absent block on the Rebel defense. While getting five touches on the block, Abby Loosbrock only had two shutdowns.
On the offensive side, Kate Slettum and Kelli Miller had five sets each to assist in three kills a piece for Kate Blankenship and Atalie Rosenbrook.
MCC looks to get back on track as they host Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey on Thursday, September 21st.
On the bright side, the future of Rebel volleyball continues on it’s winning streak as the Bsquad defeated HLO-F, 21-25, 25-17 and 15-4.
Theran Mannon (8 pts. 1 ace) and Ava Deacon (8 pts. 4 aces) lead at the service line. Mannon also dished out 5 assists while Deacon kept the ball alive with 20 digs.
