Many years ago, I was having a conversation with a minister from a large denomination and I mentioned to him that I have eternal life. He snapped at me and said, “How can you say that? Who can even know what eternal life is?” I said, “I know what it is because Jesus clearly told us what it is in His prayer to His Father in John 17:3; “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” In August of 1972 I knelt down by my bed while serving in the Philippines. I opened my heart to God after hearing the good news of the gospel. I repented of all my sin and asked Jesus Christ to come into my heart and cleanse me of all my sin with His precious blood. (His blood is the only thing in all of the universe that can wash away our sin). Water baptism and your good works can never save you; we are only cleansed by the blood of the Lamb. Water baptism always follows salvation.
As I read and studied the Bible, I could see God’s great love for Me and all He did to give me eternal life. Scripture drew me closer and closer to Him and He was changing my life for the better. I love to read the Bible and tell others of Christ whenever I can. I pray much and talk to My heavenly Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
I talk much with the Holy Spirit as He leads me and guides me through life. I am certainly not perfect as no one of us are, but I know I have eternal life and when that time comes for me to depart this earth, I know for a fact that I will go to be with my Lord for all eternity.
