Dear Editor, This past week was again an example of why I am thankful and proud of my community. This success of this year’s postpandemic Murray County Fair has demonstrated the glue that makes our community strong.

The Murray County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday, August 24, 2021. Commissioners Walgraven, Thiner, Kluis and Gunnink were present in the meeting room while Commissioner Malone joined them via Zoom.

If you received a payment under the Wildfires and Hurricanes Indemnity Program+ (WHIP+) or the Quality Loss Adjustment Program (QLA) for crop production and/or quality losses occurring in 2018, 2019, or 2020 crop years, you are required to meet linkage requirements by obtaining federal crop insurance or Non-Insured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP) coverage at the 60/100 level, or higher, for both the 2022 and 2023 crop years. When applying for WHIP+ or QLA, form FSA-895 (Crop Insurance and/or NAP Coverage Agreement) was submitted acknowledging the requirement to obtain federal crop insurance, if available, or NAP coverage if federal crop insurance is not available. The coverage requirement is applicable to the physical location county of the crop that received WHIP+ and/ or QLA benefits.

When a person repents of their sin and surrenders their life to Christ, and becomes His follower; immediately God gives to them one of His greatest gifts – the gift of righteousness. That means that we now have ‘right standing’ with God. That in itself is wonderful, but there is so much more. It is a gift of having ‘self-worth.’ Much of the world has little or no respect for them-selves. They feel like a low-life; a loser; they feel guilty for all their past failures; broken homes, failed marriages, bondage to whatever, unfulfilled dreams and goals. Their lives are filled with shame and guilt.

Decorated in fall hues and with the last thoughts of summer, the Murray County Fairgrounds is the location of the annual Slayton Women of Today’s Autumn Boutique. This 29th annual event will be held on Friday, September 10th from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, September 11th from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Murray County Fairgrounds in Slayton, Minnesota. During this two-day event this small community located on Highways 30 & 59 is transformed into a dynamic shopping haven.

Monday, August 30: Chicken & Noodle Casserole, Mixed Vegetables, Peaches, Cookie, Lowfat Milk. Tuesday, August 31: Tater Tot Casserole, Green Beans, Bread/ Margarine, Cinnamon Apples, Lowfat Milk.
