A couple of Christians spent several evenings trying to win a young doctor to Christ. However, the doctor argued and argued against the gospel; not so much against what the Christians were saying, but in the fact that he did not feel saved. One of the Christians had a wonderful idea and gave a coin to the doctor and asked him to place it in his pocket. “Now then,” said the Christian, “do you feel that you have the coin?” “No,” he said, “I know that I have it.” “Right!” said the Christian “we know we have Christ when we accept Him and believe His Word, without feeling it.”
The doctor testified many days later that after accepting Christ that night, he woke up the next morning and he was overflowing with joy. He also said that since the evening he accepted Christ he has not doubted his salvation, “I was truly born-again, converted to God.”
Scripture tells us that we Christians have basically three enemies we must constantly deal with that try to keep us from becoming children of God, and once we are bornagain, these enemies will do their best to hinder and destroy our walk with God; they are, 1. Satan and his demonic forces; 2. the world system with all its ungodly philosophies to keep man from Gods plan for our lives; and lastly, the flesh. If we let the flesh rule our lives, (living carnally), this is letting the lust of the flesh rule our lives rather than our re-born spirit and the Holy Spirit.
