The Worthington Deanery Roundtable, a group formed to study, read, discuss and learn more about the Catholic Church’s social justice teachings, is hosting with help from the Faith Formation directors, a high school retreat for Catholic youth in grades nine through 12. This retreat will be held on Sunday, February 27 starting at 1 p.m with registration at St. Adrian.

Sponsored by the AARP Foundation. Appointments are necessary to help keep everyone healthy during this time.

Slayton Kiwanis recently had the opportunity to have six of their members attend a leadership conference as part of the International Kiwanis training program. The seminar was titled “Become the leader you were meant to be.” This week and the following weeks you will see reflection articles from those who attended the training. Joe Meyer, Josh Malchow, Jakob Etrheim, Luke Schryvers, Marv Nysetvold, and Karen Tommeraasen.

Our FMCC Warriors made the trip to Tracy Minnesota for a multi team event in which they would compete in four duals against Luverne, Springfield, Red Rock Central, and Tracy-Milroy-Balaton, of which the Warriors would go on and take 3 of the four duals.

The MCC Rebels hosted the RTR Knights this past Friday night. The Rebels were facing one of the most exciting young teams in the area. RTR has just one senior on their roster and they play a fast-paced exciting style including full-court pressure all game long. The Knights never slow down on defense and they work to get east shots on offense. This is a team that is perfectly suited to beat up on the Rebels and though they did beat the Rebels MCC would have some positives.

MCC and HBC have had tight, contested ball games already this season at all three levels, Saturday night would prove to be the same as both teams looked to end the week with a win. The C-squad would get off to a bit of a slow start, as both teams were playing pretty even basketball.

The Rebel fans were in for three highly competitive games Thursday night as SWC came to town. All games would be decided by 7 points or less as a great crowd created an outstanding atmosphere to play ball in.
