The MCC Rebel softball regular season came to an end on Thursday afternoon as the Rebels traveled to Ellsworth to take on the Adrian Ellsworth Dragons. The Rebels were looking to finish on a strong note heading to the playoffs. The Rebels wanted the win to beat a rival but also to secure the second-place finish in the Red Rock Conference. With Section seeding being decided on Saturday every win was important.

The 2022 Red Rock Conference Track meet was held in Mountain Lake on Thursday, May 19th. While the conference consists of nine schools, seven teams make up the conference in track, as a few of the schools (SWC/Edgerton and WWG/RRC) combine together for this spring sport.

On Thursday, May 19, the Dragons of Adrian/Ellsworth traveled to Slayton in a battle for the Red Rock Conference Title. A/E got on the board in the first inning for an early 1-0 lead.

Summer in Minnesota brings sunshine and excitement with campgrounds and cabins opening and families heading out on vacation. All of the campers, trailers, and extra vehicle traffic makes Memorial Day to Labor Day a deadly time for traffic fatalities each year on Minnesota roads. Unfortunately this time frame is also dangerous for your young drivers as college and high school end and they’re driving more often during the summer. That’s why the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety is reminding all Minnesotans to drive safely.

The generosity of Nobles Cooperative Electric members continues to have an amazing effect on local communities. Even more astounding is the fact that tiny donations, an average of only 50 cents a month, are making these huge impacts. That’s over $442,000 since the program began!

The United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN) is a recipient of a $1,220 grant from Nobles-Murray Rural Electric Trust Fund’s Operation Round Up. This program is supported by the member-owners of Nobles-Murray Rural Electric as a way to strengthen local communities and programs in the cooperative’s service territory.

The City of Currie was recently presented a zero-percent interest loan thanks to Nobles Cooperative Electric (NCE) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Economic Development Loan and Grant (REDLG) program. Currie was loaned $158,991 to help build a new fire hall.
