The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) is now accepting applications for the Farm to Food Security Grant program. Established by the Minnesota Legislature in 2025, the program is modeled after the former federal Local Food Purchase Assistance Program and supports local farmers and producers by funding projects that purchase local food and distribute it to Minnesotans experiencing food insecurity.

Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), sponsored by Second Harvest Heartland distribution; will be held at the office of A.C.E. of Southwest Minnesota – Murray County at 2989 Maple Rd., Slayton, on Thursday, March 12th, from 1:30 – 2:30 pm. Distribution at the Fulda Food Shelf at 305 S Lafayette Ave will be Monday, March 16th, from 1:30 – 2 pm.

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) is reminding the public that written comments on the state’s Groundwater Protection Rule must be submitted by Thursday, March 12. The MDA is seeking input to determine whether the rule, adopted in 2019, is adequate to protect Minnesota’s air, water, land, and other natural resources from nitrate pollution— or if additional restrictions are needed.

Every five years, the CEDS process brings together regional leaders and privatesector partners to set priorities and create a shared strategy that supports economic resilience and long-term prosperity across the region.

Bids submitted for the motor pool garage project during the last Murray County Commissioners meeting were rejected on Tuesday – not because the bids were wrong or too high, but because the commissioners are now rethinking the project.
