This is the final week before Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving has changed through the years.

The Slayton Public Library is excited to offer a Kindle Paperwhite for checkout! This ereader comes preloaded with a curated selection of books, focusing on titles popular with local book groups as well as titles not published as a physical, large-print book. There’s something for everyone to enjoy—from fiction to nonfiction for adults, plus titles with a Minnesota connection or by independent authors. This Paperwhite is an easy way to try an e-book or e-reader without the hassle of buying a device or managing digital downloads.

This fall, Nobles Cooperative Electric members helped make a difference in our local communities through Operation Round Up! Thanks to the generosity of members who round up their monthly bills to the nearest dollar, $21,300 in grants were awarded to organizations across Nobles and Murray counties. Each project supported helps strengthen the cooperative spirit — from safety and education to youth, senior, and community programs.

UMN Extension will be offering a cattle Artificial Insemination (A.I.) School in Pipestone on December 11-13, 2025. The 2.5-day school will be a combination of classroom learning and hands-on experience, including instructor-led practices in the classroom with harvested reproductive tracts as well as practice inseminating live cows at a local dairy.
