DON’T BE A VICTIM OF MEDICARE FRAUD

No one ever thinks they could be a victim, until it happens to them. People who take advantage of others are often very savvy. They pay attention to what is happening in people’s lives that they can exploit. Scammers know that at age 65 people become eligible for Medicare, and this makes them perfect targets. These scammers also know that people understand little about Medicare. Medicare is complicated and most people don’t know whether they need to enroll or who to go with their questions.

BOYS WIN OVER HBC

The C-team comes away with a victory defeating HBC’s C-team in a barn burner 32-29. Turnovers and rebounding plagued the boys at times, but solid defense, ball movement, and free throws were key to the win. Hudson Schryvers led the Rebels with 10 points, Gavin Gillette had 8, both Dylan Kluis and Jackson Kramer had 5, and Andrew Holm and Drew Wajer each had 2 apiece.

REBELS FALL TO TMB

The C-team was looking to go into the Christmas break undefeated against a tough TMB squad. TMB would take control early in the game, but MCC would not go away and used a solid team effort to regain control before half. Leading by 2 at half 19-17 it looked like it was going to be a barn burner but the Rebels would find another level in the second half. On multiple occasions the ball movement was impressive, moving seamlessly from one teammate to the next on time and on target leading to easy buckets around the rim, wide open perimeter shots, or attacking scrambling closeouts. It was a high level of basketball for this level as MCC would pull away for the 47-31 win.

COMMUNITY TRANSIT FARES RETURN TO PRE-PANDEMIC RATES IN JANUARY

The world has been living with the pandemic and its effects for two years, and in many ways, they seem the longest two years in history. Things are returning to a regular rhythm, though. For Community Transit, that means some of the COVID-19 changes are here to stay, but reduced fare rates will be ending.

Rebel Roundup

MCC Elementary is full of Rebel Pride fun! Our PBIS Program (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support) has a theme this year of “3 R’s Rock Stars”. We are recognizing our students who show the 3 R’s – Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Ready to Learn. Students caught displaying these three traits earn Rebel Bucks. Rebel Bucks are collected weekly from each classroom and students’ names are drawn for special recognition and prizes. Our students are loving it!

WINTER BLUES HAVE YOU FEELING DOWN? PIPESTONE COUNTY MEDICAL CENTER SENIOR LIFE SOLUTIONS PROGRAM SAYS YOU’RE NOT ALONE

Pipestone, MN – The winter season is upon us, and the colder weather and shorter days may cause individuals to feel more isolated, lonely, and less motivated. According to the American Psychological Association, more than 12 million Americans over age 65 live alone. During the winter months, many individuals may also choose to skip the cold and stay home more often than usual, leading to a decreased opportunity for social interaction. This increased isolation mixed with feelings of stress and anxiety that may accompany wintertime and the upcoming holidays can have a real impact on a person’s overall wellbeing. Pipestone County Medical Center’s Senior Life Solutions program is here to help older adults in the community.
