On Thursday, May 19, the Dragons of Adrian/Ellsworth traveled to Slayton in a battle for the Red Rock Conference Title. A/E got on the board in the first inning for an early 1-0 lead.

The Rebels tied the game in the bottom of the 2nd inning when Peyton Coulter singled, Dawson Blankenship walked, Connor Degreeff reached on a error and with a bases loaded walk by Jaden Deacon scored the tying run for the Rebels.

The Dragons regained the lead with a solo homerun by Evan Lenz. Rebels answered back in the bottom of the 5th inning when junior Christian Tentinger hit a massive 2-run homerun giving the Rebels a 3-2 lead. In the top of the 7th innnig A/E used a suicide squeeze to tie the game up at 3-3 with one out.

In the bottom of the seventh inning the Rebels had to use everything they could to get the winning run across. Tentinger and Paulzine were hit by the pitch, and Blankenship walked to load the bases. With two out and two strikes on the Rebel hitter, Tentinger took off for home on a straight steal, little did everyone know, the A/E balked and allowed the winning run to score.

With that the Rebels took home the conference title. Abe Paulzine started the game and threw a gem of a game, while Peyton Coulter came in relief and got the last couple outs.
