MCC TAKES 2ND PLACE IN RED ROCK CONFERENCE

The MCC Rebel softball regular season came to an end on Thursday afternoon as the Rebels traveled to Ellsworth to take on the Adrian Ellsworth Dragons. The Rebels were looking to finish on a strong note heading to the playoffs. The Rebels wanted the win to beat a rival but also to secure the second-place finish in the Red Rock Conference. With Section seeding being decided on Saturday every win was important.

The game didn’t get off to a good start as over the first three innings the Rebels would trail 6-0 and would have to pull their starting pitcher. The Rebels would turn it around in the 4th inning as the Rebels would score three runs the big hit was a two-run double by Morgan Winter which was followed by an RBI single by Casey Miller. The Rebels would turn on the offense in the 5th inning. MCC would turn 6 hits, 3 errors, 2 walks, and 2 hit batters into 12 runs. Jayda Hellewell and Abby Loosbrock would have key 2 RBI Hits in the inning as the Rebels pulled away. MCC wouldn’t slow down, adding another three runs in the 7th inning.

It took the Rebels a while to get going in the heat and wind but when it all came together the Rebels put together a strong final four innings. Mary Lou McNab was the key player for the Rebels and it wasn’t because of her regular hitting. McNab came in to pitch and the game changed at that point. The Rebels picked up the win they needed and now prepare for the playoffs. The Rebels are the 5th seed in subsection 3a south and will open the playoffs on Tuesday in Edgerton in an elimination game against #4 Tracy Milroy Balaton. A win would put the Rebels against Edgerton/SWC in the double-elimination portion of the playoffs.

Red Rock Conference Final Standings: Edg/SWC 10-0; MCC 7-3; MLAC 5-5; RRC/WWG 5-5; Adr/Ellsw 3-7; HLOF 0-10.
