TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH’S NEW NATIVITY SCENE

For the past several years, Trinity Lutheran Church congregation members admired the Nativity Scene that neighbor Todd Hieronimus set up in front of Totzke Funeral Home on Broadway Avenue in Slayton each Christmas season. The figurines of Baby Jesus, Mother Mary, Joseph, God’s Angel, Shepherds, Wise Men, and barn animals comprised the classiest Nativity Scene many of the congregation members had ever seen and this compliment was passed along to Todd.

MCDONALD MEETS THE EXPECTATIONS OF THE BOARD

The regular meeting of the Murray County Board of Commissioners was held on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 with all members present. The first item of business was to close the meeting for the purpose of conducting a performance evaluation of County Administrator Carolyn McDonald. At the resumption of the open session of the meeting, Chair Molly Malone stated that McDonald, after six months in her position, was meeting the expectations of the Board. In Addition, Malone expressed the appreciation of the changes that Mc Donald has brought forward.

MURRAY COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY LUNCHBOX SERIES

The Murray County Historical Society invites the public to attend its December Dinehart Lunchbox Lecture on Thursday, December 8 in the 4-H building on the Murray County Fairgrounds in Slayton starting at noon. The cost of the talk is $3.00 per person or Historical Society members get in free. Attendees are welcome to bring their own lunch. Refreshments and light snacks are provided.

JAMES W. TRACY SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS OPEN

The Minnesota FFA Foundation is excited to announce that the James W. Tracy scholarship applications are open. The James W. Tracy scholarship application carries a deadline of February 1st, 2023. This is the eighth year the Minnesota FFA Foundation has offered this scholarship program.

MCC GIRLS BASKETBALL STARTS THE SEASON ON THE ROAD

The Murray County Central Rebel Girls Basketball team opened their 2022-2023 season on Tuesday night with a very tough matchup to open the season. The Rebels traveled to Tracy to take on the TMB Panthers. The Panthers won the subsection 3a south title last season losing to Minneota in the section finals. The Rebels were 2-23 last year and are hoping an experienced roster with some positive moments in the offseason will lead to an improved season this time around. The Panthers got a victory in their first game of the season beating Red Rock Central 71 to 27 the Rebels were hoping to be more competitive in their contest Tuesday.
