THEOLOGY IN THE TRENCHES

They Say Theology in the Trenches By Kathleen Kjolhaug Ring the bells that still can ring Forget your perfect offering There is a crack, a crack in everything That’s how the light gets in. Leonard Cohen They say it wasn’t a stable, but rather a cave where Christ was born on Christmas morn.

“What Child is This?”

“Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” - Luke 2:11-12 NIV Agood question: who is this Jesus, who came into this world as so many children do, born to a mother who found herself pregnant out of wedlock, born in the humblest circumstances, a manger being perhaps the modern equivalent of a cheap hotel room or a homeless camp (and probably not as well-furnished as a modern barn) and who eventually dies a most ignominious death, hung from a cross.

GOOD NEWS

By John Stenen In Genesis 3: we are told that a Redeemer would one day come. The prophet Micha tells us where Jesus would be born hundreds of years before His birth. King David and the prophet Isaiah tell us of his death hundreds and hundreds of years before it happened. Daniel tells us when he would come and die. The list of Scriptures telling us of the coming Savior could go on and on and on. Here it is, two thousand years since our Savior came and died for each one of us in order that we could escape hell and gain heaven; and He is ignored, rejected and cursed by many.
