The MCC Rebels were in Tyler on Friday night for the fourth football game of the season. The Rebels have started the season 0-3, but against teams that threw the first four weeks have just one total loss. The Russell Tyler Ruthton Knights entered the game 2-1 on the season with their only loss coming against Sleepy Eye United where RTR scored just one touchdown. The Rebels were hoping to get their first win of the season with homecoming one week away.

The RTR Knights started with the football in this game and their opening drive picked up a first down but failed to pick up a second until the Rebels ran into the punter and gave the Knights a first down. The good news is the Rebels defense played well and didn’t allow the Knights to score. The Rebels first drive took three plays and traveled over 75 yards. Caleb Rosenbrook ran for 11 yards to pick up an MCC first down and then Carson Lewis broke off his longest run of the season scoring on a 64 yard touchdown run with 6:37 to play in the first quarter. Beckett Stelter made the extra point and the Rebels led for the first time this season 7-0. RTR got on the scoreboard halfway through the second quarter when Garrett Elton scored on a three yard run and Braden Nibbe caught the two point conversion from Brayden Chandler to put the Knights against at halftime 8 to 7.

The second half would be dominated by the Rebels. Though MCC has struggled to win during the first three weeks of the season they have played their best football in the second halves of their games this year. The Rebels got the ball to open the second half and the Rebels used the clock while picking up first downs. The offense was Carson Lewis and Brayden Gilb in the third quarter and it was Gilb who scored on a 6 yard run to put the Rebels ahead 13 to 8 as the two point conversion failed. The MCC defense stopped the Knights throughout the second half. MCC extended their lead with less than two minutes used in the fourth quarter. The Rebels marched down the field led by a big run by Caleb Rosenbrook and the constant tough running of Carson Lewis. Lewis scored on a 4 yard run and Stelter kicked the extra point making the score 20 to 8. The teams exchanged turnovers late in the game but the Rebels came away with a win 20 to 8.

Carson Lewis had a great game with 23 carries for 150 yards and 2 touchdowns. Caleb Rosenbrook was quiet for three quarters but ended the game with 6 carries for 73 yards. MCC’s defense held the Knights to under 40 yards rushing and 92 yards passing.

The Rebels will host the LQPV Eagles for homecoming 2026 Friday night at 7:00 pm.
