To the Editor It’s summer and that means we’re in the middle of road construction season - a time that can drive us crazy before the time comes when a project is completed and we are reminded that we should appreciate things like smooth roads.

By John Stenen When I was in Bible School in 1980, Cheryl Pruitt, (Miss America 1979) came to our school to give her testimony. When she was eleven years old she was in a horrific car accident. Her left leg was crushed and was nearly amputated. The accident caused her left leg to be two inches shorter and had terrible scars. When she was a little girl, her milk man always said to her, “You will be Miss America one day.” She grew up loving the Lord Jesus Christ and believed He would one day heal her. An evangelist was coming to her city and people were often healed in his meetings. Cheryl told everyone at school, including her family, “When he lays hands on me, God is going to heal my leg.” She had a child-like faith and it happened just as she told everyone. What a miracle! Jesus says to you and I, “ If thou canst believe, all things are possible to them that believe.” God bless.

Alumni and current members invited to contribute photos, projects and memorabilia The Cameron 4-H Club is celebrating its 100th anniversary by giving back to the communities that have supported generations of members. As part of its centennial celebration, the club is donating $7,500 to local organizations.

Students of the Flesner Piano Studio presented their “Tickling the Ivories” Recital at the Tracy Lutheran Church performing duets and solos. Awards earned for the Minnesota Music Teachers Association Theory Examinations, the MMTA State Piano Solo Contest, and the Successful Music Making Piano Festival were presented. Claire Wambeke was a Preliminaries Contest Winner and then a Finalist Contest Winner in the MMTA State Piano Solo Contest. A reception followed the recital in the Fellowship Hall.

With the Murray County Fair and Remembering Our Fallen exhibit just around the corner, Slayton American Legion Post Commander Brad Pagel is looking for some help. While the Remembering Our Fallen exhibit is in Slayton, someone needs to be present at the display the entire time, just like when the Vietnam Wall was on display several years ago.
