The Slayton Community Band will be performing at Gullord Park on Thursday, June 27 at 7:00 PM. All concerts are FREE and open to people of all ages. Gabe Gleis will be singing the National Anthem. Gabe was the VFW Local and State winner in the VFW “Red, White, and Blue” National Anthem singing contest in 2023.

Jules was a senior this past year at MCC and turned 18 while staying with us. Now that he has returned home I thought it would be a great opportunity to share what it was like hosting an exchange student and maybe encourage others to give it a try.

When Did the Altar Turn Stage? It’s been a few years now since the words were first heard, and they still stir. Funny how thoughts sort of bloom in slow motion and one day, they seem ripe for picking.

The Chandler American Legion Auxiliary met on Tuesday May, 21st with President Patsy Buys presiding. Geri Sankey gave the opening devotions. The Auxiliary sang the National Anthem, recited the Pledge of Allegiance, held a moment of silence in memory of the deceased members and repeated the Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion Auxiliary. The minutes and the Treasurer’s reports were read and approved.

SOUTH DAKOTA STATE ANNOUNCES SPRING 2024 DEAN’S LIST More than 3,300 students were recognized for their outstanding academic performance over the spring 2024 semester at South Dakota State University by being named to the dean’s list. To earn dean’s list distinctions in SDSU’s colleges, students must have completed a minimum of 12 credits and must have earned at least a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
