This Murray County Historical Society Fundraiser features Janet Timmerman’s Smith Family Recipe for homemade Hoosier Chicken and Noodles. This is not soup, but rather a thick comforting stew served over real mashed potatoes. Handed down for generations from Janet’s Smith ancestors, this dish is a staple in Indiana and is served at many a-church dinner there.

Agricultural producers in Murray County who lost property due to recent natural disasters are eligible for physical loss loans from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) offers these loans for losses caused by excessive rain, hail and high winds that occurred on August 28 and 29 of this year.

Rebel Roundup MCC ELEMENTARY BACKPACK PROGRAM

MCC Elementary is helping to meet the nutritional needs of our students in Junior Kindergarten – Grade 6 by offering the Backpack Program again this year. The goal of the Backpack Program is to reduce childhood hunger by sending food packages home with identified students each weekend. This is a time when students are unable to access school breakfast and lunch programs. Supplemental food programs such as this have become popular around the country in recent years. MCC Elementary currently has 36 students participating in our Backpack Program
