BUTTERMAKER SEASON UNDERWAY

On a cool overcast Mother’s Day afternoon, the Hadley Buttermakers opened their 2022 Gopher League schedule as they faced the Fox Lake Foxes from the First Nite League. It looked like Mother Nature would throw a wrench in the Hadley baseball fans of the home opener after overnight rains threatened to delay action for a second week in a row. Fortunately, the Hadley ground crew would get the field in playing condition. Game time was set back an hour. Here is the game recap:

MCC TRACK HOSTS DICK DAVIDSON INVITE

Dick Davidson led the Slayton/ MCC Track teams for 34 years. During his tenure, he guided 31 individual events and 25 relay teams that placed in the top 9 at the state meet. His teams placed at the MSHSL State top ten 7 times (5 boys, 2 girls) winning boys state in 1978 and in the State True Team meet 15 times (11 boys, 4 girls) winning boys state in 1988, 1989 and 1997. He is a member of the Minnesota Cross Country Hall of Fame, Minnesota Track Hall of Fame and Murray County Central Hall of Fame. Currently, Coach Davidson officiates high school meets and would do that to the one that bears his name.

TRACK TRAVELS TO REDWOOD FALLS FOR SECTION TRUE TEAM MEET

The true team series was originated in 1987 by the State Track and Field Coaches Association, to address the need in Track and Field for a True TEAM competition. In previous years, a team with a few elite athletes could win the “Team Championship” in a large meet. The Coaches felt the Team Championship should be won by the best TEAM.

REBEL GOLFERS COMPETE IN SECOND CONFERENCE MEET

The Rebels competed in their second of four varsity conference meets this past Thursday. The boys stayed home at Slayton Country Club, while the girls went to Sanborn. It turned out to be a great day for golf even though the players started off with some drizzling rain.

MCC @ RED ROCK CONFERENCE INVITE #33 (5/10/22)

The Rebels had a perfect day for golf on Tuesday for their third conference meet. The girls traveled to Mountain Lake, while the boys headed to Adrian. The round started off fairly windy, but died down midway through the meet. The squads needed to play solid in order to finish in a good spot before the final conference meet.

Stephanie LaBrune is currently the City Administrator – Clerk for the City of Tyler where she has been in the role for nearly 2 1/2 years. Prior to that, she was the Administrative Assistant for Pipestone County Conservation & Zoning for nearly 12 years.
