Two more signs of coming Winter came this past week. Last Friday afternoon the rain changed to white snow flurries. Neither the rain nor the snow lasted long. Then this week the temperature got down into the teens we heard. Neither lasted long but future days will have more snow and cold weather too.

REBEL ROUNDUP

PBIS at MCC Elementary By Nikki Cheskie The MCC Elementary PBIS program (also known as Rebel Pride) has enjoyed a successful start to the new school year. PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Support. This is a school-wide program designed to teach and reinforce positive behaviors in all of our students. Our PBIS program is based on “The 3 R’s” – Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Ready to Learn. Students who are caught demonstrating the 3 R’s are awarded with a “Rebel Buck”. Rebel Bucks are collected and placed in a big bin on a weekly basis. At the end of each week, 10 students have their names drawn from the bin for a variety of rewards. In September, many Rebel Pride winners enjoyed riding in a police car with some of our local law enforcement. In October, some students have gotten to help be a student manager at a Rebels football game. Reward choices change on a monthly basis. Teachers are also allowed to set PBIS goals at the classroom or grade level.
