Slayton American Legion Post 64 has procured American Veterans Traveling Tribute to bring the traveling Vietnam Wall along with the Cost of Freedom panel display to Slayton MN August 15-20 2023. These dates happen to coincide with the Murray County Fair as well. This wall is an 80% replica of the actual wall in Washington DC. The Wall consists of 144 panels spanning 360 feet, in addition to the Vietnam Wall display, there is The Cost of Freedom panels, 72 of them, which is a tribute to every conflict that the United States has been in starting with WW1. 1914-1968 8 panels, 19791989 8 panels, 1990-2012 8 panels, 911 Tribute 12 panels, Afghanistan & Iraq Warrior Tribute 36 panels.

The tentative plan is on Tuesday August 15 2023 to escort the transport for the traveling wall into Slayton to the display location, setup, and then opening ceremonies. As the time frame gets closer we will release more information on timing of everything once a schedule has been set.

To bring this display to Slayton there is a significant cost involved. To help offset the expense involved there has been an account set up.

Donations can be mailed to or dropped off at Minnwest Bank or First National Bank in Slayton. Mention the Traveling Wall Fund.

Checks for the tax deductible donation should be issued to: American Legion Post #64 and in the memo please include Traveling Wall Fund. The American Legion is a 501c19 non-profit.

There will be a banner made up to place at the display with everyone listed on it that has made a contribution, whether monetary or in kind, if you wish to have your name left off the list please mention it when dropping off donations.

Thank you Slayton American Legion Post 64
