THEOLOGY IN THE TRENCHES

Sometimes Obedience Means GO Guatemala continued…a trip within a trip: The mountain before me looked like a climb alright as our team made its way up. A tall white cross atop could be seen from below which was exactly where I was standing…below! It looked doable as the trail ahead flatly zigzagged its way back and forth making the eye believe it was an easier climb than it was.

GREEN THUMB

By Arnold Krusemark Our gardening this time of year consists of two kinds: outside snow and inside catalogue. Outside we wonder how many snowfalls we will get and how high the snow drifts. And finally - when will winter be over. Most of us have been through some heavy winter storms with good stories to tell. The kids (and most of us grownups too) have stories of years when we had snow weeks starting with the blizzard on Sunday, snow through Wednesday and maybe two days of school each week. And then flood(s) when the snow melted in the spring.

REBEL WIN AGAINST WOLVERINES

The MCC Rebel Girls were on the road Tuesday night looking for a bit of redemption. The Rebels played very competitive basketball before Christmas, winning two games and playing close in a couple of others. That strong play hasn’t followed the Rebels into 2023, but on Tuesday the Rebels could avenge a missed opportunity. The Rebels played Mountain Lake Area Comfrey in Slayton earlier in the year. The Rebels led by 13 points with 13 minutes to go and were outscored 24 to 2 over the rest of the game. Tuesday night the Rebels were looking to flip the script on the Wolverines and they would and then some.

MCC GIRLS BASKETBALL PLAY EDGERTON

The Flying Dutchmen and the MCC Rebels came into the game on Saturday in a similar fashion. The Rebels lost a tough game to Red Rock Central while Edgerton lost by two points to Westbrook Walnut Grove. The Flying Dutchmen were one game above 500 coming into the game while the Rebels were still looking for that third win of the season. The Flying Dutchmen would be the only team leaving the gym happy on Saturday.

Rebel Roundup

PBIS CELEBRATION DAY Throughout the school year, students have been earning “Rebel Bucks” for demonstrating respectful, responsible, and ready-to-learn behavior. The “Rebel Bucks” system is part of our school-wide PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention System) program that we have implemented at our school.

REBELS TAKE ON THE FALCONS

The MCC Rebel Girls Basketball team was looking to add to its win total this past Thursday night when the Rebels hosted the Red Rock Central Falcons. The Falcons, like the Rebels, have struggled to pick up wins this season with RRC having just 1 win on the year entering the game. The Falcons have had a long winning streak against the Rebels which dates back into the past decade, so, for the Rebels, a win would push them past last year’s win total and would end a long losing streak to the Falcons.
