For gardeners this is the time area gardeners bring in their best and compete for prizes - the best fruit, best vegetables, best floral and plant arrangements and other exhibits.

BUTTERMAKERS MOVING ON

By Mark Zinnel- Buttermaker Reporter The Region 13 C quarterfinals had the #5 seed, Hadley taking on the #4 seed Windom Pirates. All games against these two competitors in the playoff are always hard fought. For Hadley, Windom has been the Buttermakers thorn in the side as the Pirates have had their number the last two years. For this year’s Buttermaker team, they were hoping to turn things their way. A big motivation factor for both teams meant a series victory would result in a ticket to the State Amateur Baseball Tournament. This would be the Buttermakers year as they took down the Pirates in a tough and grueling 3 games. Here is the series recap: WEDNESDAY -WINDOM 6 vs HADLEY 3 On a hot, humid evening in Windom, Hadley Jacob Van Dam would face the Pirate ace, Colin Lovell in Game 1. Hadley led most of the way, but the Pirates would come from behind to take Game 1, 6-3.

By Joanne Bergman The Murray County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 with a short agenda. Ditch Inspector Travis Radke had three new repair petitions to present. One was on Judicial Ditch 12 in Bondin Township, the second on County Ditch 20 in Lowville Township and the third on County Ditch 75 in Slayton Township.

Heroic Act

Not everyone over the age of 5, dreams of growing up to be a superhero. But recently 3 area youth found themselves in a situation that turned them into real heroes. On July 1st, Caleb Rosenbrook and Gabe Tentinger were involved in a serious jetski accident on Lake Shetek. Weston Kruger, Logan Mihin and Dawson Schreier were instrumental in quickly and safely getting both Caleb and Gabe to shore.
