GREEN THUMB

By Arnold Krusemark It’s two weeks until Christmas and many things need doing. About now we decide to do our Christmas shopping. In years past this took been considerable thought to get the just right present. And then there’s the process of buying or making it, wrapping and then waiting until Christmas.

In the years with mail order catalog we usually had at least and sometimes two orders sent in. The first was for Christmas tree decorations and the like. and then some years we waited until the week before Christmas when the mid-winter catalogue came out. THEN we placed our order hoping it will arrive just in time.

One year that netted several of our family an electric blanket (for each bed). More recently we’ve placed our orders via internet with direct shipments to the recipients. Then we can visit via telephone asking if they got anything delivered.

In past years columns we’ve described our flower pot gardens - inside the house and probably along side the house plants. In these flower pot gardens we’ve planted a few radishes and sometimes lettuce. That gave us something fresh to eat during the winter.

Otherwise we are sure your Christmas Eve and Day festivities are in progress. Where you will eat and whom you will enjoy the presence with. And don’t forget to water your house plants too.

Until next week.
