By Arnold Krusemark The idea for this week’s column came when we noticed last week’s Wheel/Herald placed our column next to an ad for an indoor garden planter. Readers may remember we’ve discussed indoor gardens in the past. In some cases if you had an entire room you could set up the garden with its own heater, lighting system along with watering. That way you could grow fresh garden vegetables throughout the winter. If you didn’t have the entire room, you could use a deep cake pan or simply an unused flower pot. In any case that would produce some fresh garden produce during the winter.

The Rebels traveled to Lamberton Monday night to face the 8-6 Falcons. Red Rock had won 6 out of 7 games coming into the contest. MCC would come into the game with a .500 record at 7-7, coming off a win against Adrian/Ellsworth.

Can a big win turn around a season? That is the question the MCC Rebel Girls will get a chance to answer over the next week or two. The Rebels came into Tuesday’s game at Hills Beaver Creek with a couple of frustrating losses in the last week to Lakeview and MLAC, when the Rebels had chances to climb to 500 on the season. With those two chances going by the wayside and three games in the week against teams with winning records, the Rebels needed to step up and they did just that.

The MCC Rebels were back at home on Friday for their third game of the week. The Rebels had split their first two games, losing to Lakeview and then beating RRC. The Rebels defense has been strong this season but the ups and downs on offense have cost them several games this season. Friday would fall into that category for MCC as the Wolverines would avenge a loss to the Rebels from earlier this year.

MCC would look to snap a two game skid as they traveled to Ellsworth on Thursday night for a Red Rock Conference showdown. Adrian/Ellsworth came into the game with a 2-6 record with wins over WWG and HLOF. MCC entered the contest with a 6-7 mark.

The Fulda/Murray County Central Warriors traveled to Owatonna in lieu of the Tri-Valley Wrestling tournament which got canceled due to weather. Owatonna is a different direction for the Warriors, and they got to see some new competition.

The Murray County Central One Act Play members are gearing up to perform “The Last Illusion” for subsection competition on Saturday, Jan. 27 at noon at Redwood Valley High School and for a public presentation at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 2 in the MCC auditorium.

Murray County Central students have a new educational space to enhance their classroom experience. The opportunity comes in the form of a hydroponics Grow Shed, an 8 foot by 12 foot insulated building.
