MINNWEST BANK PARTNERS WITH FEDERAL HOME LOAN BANK OF DES MOINES TO AWARD NEARLY $1 MILLION TO NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS ACROSS Minnesota through the Member Impact Fund Grant program supports affordable housing and community development Minnwest Bank, in partnership with Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines (FHLB Des Moines), is pleased to announce that 50 nonprofit organizations across Minnesota will receive a total of $980,400 in grants through the Member Impact Fund. This matching grant program will result in FHLB Des Moines awarding $20 million in funding to support affordable housing and community development in Minnesota.

MCC SCHOOL BOARD HOLDS MONTHLY MEETING

The Murray County Central School Board met in regular session on Monday June 9, 2025. With all board members present, the agenda was approved with no additions. They went on to approve the minutes from the last meeting, claims and financials as well as the following personnel recommendations: Lane Changes: Joe Biren from B to B+15, April Johnson from M+30 to M+45, and Joanna Vogel from B+30 to B+45. They also accepted the retirement of Gayleen Kirchner from the Food Service, the resignation of Elissa Wieneke as Community Education Coordinator and the non-renewal of Elissa Wieneke as Head Softball Coach.

SOFTBALL AWARDS BANQUET

The Murray County Central Softball team held their 2025 Softball Banquet this past week. The Rebels were the champions of the Red Rock Conference this season. The Rebels had 5 All Red Rock Conference members and 2 honorable mentions. The All conference members included seniors Thea Schneider, Emmi Peltola, Elyse Paulzine, along with juniors Kate Blankenship and Ava Deacon. The honorable mentions included junior Calliegh Doeden and Kat Miller. The Cy Young award winner was Thea Schneider. The Rebels steals, and batting champion went to Kate Blankenship. The Gold Glove award winner was Blankenship. The Rudy Award winner went to Takeyah Flowers. Kate Blankenship was named All State Second Team.

BUTTERMAKERS SPLIT WEEK’S ACTION

Here is the week’s recap: Wednesday at Windom WINDOM 8 HADLEY 0 Whenever Hadley and Windom face each other, the outcome usually goes down to the final innings, and it usually depends on which team makes a crucial error. Wednesday’s game started out as a pitcher’s duel as Buttermaker starter, Jacob Van Dam faced former Buttermaker draftee, Ross Ackerman, but ended up in a Pirate whitewash.
