Court Queen of Peace met Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022 following Mass and brunch by Marti Engelkes and her committee. Regent Joann Halbur called the meeting to order after prayer and flag pledge. Jeaneen Nelson read the secretary’s report which will be filed. Thank you notes for the Christmas goodies from the Mullers and Lucille Halbur were read. Betty Palmer and Jean Eich were absent due to illness but dues can be paid to Jeaneen Nelson.

Learning what to do when you become eligible for Medicare can seem overwhelming. This class is for people who will be new to Medicare and would like to learn about Medicare Parts A, B, C and D. Topics will include a comprehensive introduction to Medicare, including what Medicare covers, supplemental insurance and Part D prescription coverage. During the class, you will learn the Medicare enrollment details, how to get the most from your benefits and how to research your Medicare plan options using the Medicare.gov site.

The Fulda Murray County Central Warriors have defeated the Pipestone Arrows to make the section 3A final four. The Warriors made an impressive team showing upsetting the Arrows with a wide margin on Thursday the 17th in Pipestone. The last time these two teams met was December 2nd the 2nd dual of the season for the Warriors. A lot has happened since then and the Warriors have improved in every way the wrestling against the Arrows was top notch as well as the coaching. The Warriors haven’t made the final four for 15 years when our assistant coach Cody Kramer was a Junior in High School.

The Murray County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 with Commissioner Dave Thiner excused from the meeting. Auditor Treasurer Heidi Winter received approval to engage the MN Office of State Auditor to prepare the audit reports.

On Thursday February 10th our mighty Warriors stayed home in Fulda to take on the Dawson/Boyd/ La-qui-parle/Motevideo United and the Windom Cobras. The Warriors didn’t fair so well in either dual but did experience some success. The United wrestling team would be first on the docket and this team is composed of some powerhouse football schools probably because of their excellent wrestling program as these kids are always physical on the football field.

The MCC Rebels played one of their best halves of basketball this season in Lamberton against the Red Rock Central Falcons. That night the Rebels played a strong first half but struggled in the second half when they got sped up. Friday night going fast wasn’t an issue for either team as both teams would take their time on offense for different reasons. The Falcons were missing Karli Arkel inside which took away one of their top rebounders who could help trigger the fastbreak. The Rebels took more time than usual to get the ball inside against the now smaller Falcons.

The MCC Rebel Girls traveled to Marshall on Saturday morning for an 11:00 am showdown with one of the top teams in the Camden Conference the Lac Qui Parle Valley Eagles. The Rebels entered the game with just 1 win on the season and were riding a 17 game losing streak. The Eagles had 17 wins on the season and a four-game winning streak. The Rebels were the heavy underdogs in this game and the Eagles were not going to allow the Rebels to make a game of it.
