HBC PATRIOTS WIN OVER REBEL GIRLS

The MCC Rebel Girls opened their week at home on Monday night facing the Hills Beaver Creek Patriots. The Patriots beat the Rebels soundly earlier this season on the road in a game in which the Rebels had more turnovers than points scored. MCC would not repeat the performance on Monday night and though the Rebels did some things better the outcome was still the same. The Patriots would pick up another win in the Red Rock Conference.

GIRLS LOSE TO TMB IN 4TH GAME IN 5 DAYS

The MCC Rebels played their 4th game in 5 days on Tuesday night and to top it off they played one of the hottest teams in Class A basketball in the state. The Tracy Milroy Balaton Panthers on Monday night beat Central Minnesota Christian for the Camden Conference Title. The Panthers are 21-2 on the season heading into the game against the Rebels who were looking for the biggest upset in school history. That wouldn’t happen.

MCC BOYS IMPROVE CONFERENCE STANDING IN WIN OVER WWG

Last time these two teams met in Westbrook the B-squad and the Varsity played in close games. B-squad won by 5, 39- 34 and the Varsity lost in OT, 69-62. The B-team was looking to make it a sweep on the year and the Varsity looking to split in a big sectional and conference match-up.

JOSIE HARMS NAMED TO DEAN’S LIST AT BETHEL UNIVERSITY

Josie Harms, a Sophomore at Bethel University in St. Paul, has been named to the Dean’s List for academic excellence for the fall 2021 semester. She is the daughter of Kirsten and Isaac Harms from Slayton, Minnesota.

Dear Editor, I am writing in reference to the Commissioner Article titled “Murray County Commissioners Take Action on Ditch 22” by Joanne Bergman in your February 14, 2022 edition. My motion is incorrectly stated, as I voted to follow the legal advice of our Attorneys, John Kolb and Travis Smith, aligning with our acceptance of the Court Mediation agreement on May 4, 2021.

The Murray County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, February 15, 2022. Commissioner Molly Malone chaired the meeting. Commissioner Dave Thiner was absent. Several employees were recognized for their years of service: Devin Gillette and Lonny Lambertus, each 5 years, Scott Nelson, 10 years, Laurie Hill, 15 years, Marcy Barritt and Lisa Saner, 30 years and Nancy Pieske, 35 years.
