HADLEY LIONS CLUB TO HOST ANNUAL BASEBALL TOURNAMENT WITH PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT MICK KELEHER FAMILY

For more than the past 20 years, the Hadley Lions Club has hosted an “end of the school year” baseball tournament for 7th and 8th grade baseball players. Teams from MCC and several surrounding communities compete in this tournament annually. Proceeds are donated to an individual or family who has experienced a recent hardship and could use some community support, both financially and emotionally. This year, the Lions have chosen to donate the proceeds to the Mick Keleher family of Hadley.

By Joanne Bergman The Murray County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on May 2, 2023. They gave their approval to a gambling permit to allow the Shetek Sportsmen to hold a raffle at Key Largo on October 14, 2023. Action was taken to accept the 2023 Snowmobile Trail Assistance Program dollars. Murray County acts as the pass through of the funds to the Slayton Driftbreakers Snowmobile Club. The funds are used to maintain the trails throughout the County. Approval was given for the use of a new credit card through MnWest Bank and the cancellation of a previous card. Signers on the card include Mary Ellen Moline, Jason Lohrenz, Sheriff Heath Landsman and deputies Bryan Bose and Chris Lewis.

REBELS COMPETE AT BOB NANGLE RELAYS

The Rebel track teams traveled to Pipestone for the Bob Nangle Relays on May 2. This meet, named after a long time Pipestone teacher and coach, fielded nine area schools.

OVERGAAUW SISTERS COMPETE AT HAMLINE ELITE MEET

The Hamline Elite meet is one of Minnesota’s premier track and field meets. The meet is unique in Minnesota, since it combines the best of the best across all three classes in Minnesota at one meet, vying to become the Hamline Elite Meet champion. Athletes must meet a qualifying standard in order to be eligible to compete at this meet as only 9-16 athletes are fielded in each event. Murray County Central standouts Ashley and Amanda Overgaauw both qualified with Ashley in the 1600 and Amanda in the 3200.
