DAIRY HERD SIZE & THE RELATION TO FUTURE PROFITABILITY

What is the future for small to midsize dairy farms, and what is the relation of herd size to future profitability? All dairy producers and industry professionals are invited to join Minnesota Dairy Initiative and UMN Extension on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at the Pipestone Dairy Producer Night Out event as presenter Michael Ten Clay discusses this topic. At this event, Michael will discuss the criteria for family dairies to be sustainable for the next generation, herd size as it relates to future market opportunities, and future outlook for dairy farms in southwest Minnesota.

Quilt Club will be meeting at 1:30 on Tuesday, January 30 in the community room of the Slayton Public Library. Fabric with a 4-H motif will be passed around, from this we will make potholders for the 4-H kitchen. Muslin squares will be shared for another club quilting project. See you there.

NEW TO MEDICARE VIRTUAL CLASS

Learning what to do when you become eligible for Medicare can seem overwhelming. This class is for people who will be new to Medicare and would like to learn about Medicare Parts A, B, C, and D. Topics will include a comprehensive introduction to Medicare, including what Medicare covers, supplemental insurance, and Part D prescription coverage. During the class, you will learn the Medicare enrollment details, how to get the most from your benefits, and how to research your Medicare plan options using the Medicare.gov site.

HANNAH ETHRIDGE OF FULDA WAS RECENTLY NAMED TO CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY, NEBRASKA’S HONORS LIST FOR THE FALL 2023 SEMESTER Hannah Ethridge of Fulda was recently named to Concordia University, Nebraska’s Honors List for the Fall 2023 Semester. 226 total students were named.
