MURRAY COUNTY CENTRAL SCHOOL BOARD DISCUSSES REFERENDUM VOTE RESULTS

During the November 10 Murray County Central Board of Education meeting, the board canvassed the results of the November 4 special election, summing up voter activity. There were 1,058 votes cast, with a total of 548 yes votes and 510 no votes. Just over 90 votes were cast on absentee ballots, and 965 votes were cast on election day at the polls.

MURRAY COUNTY CHRISTMAS PROJECT

The Murray County Christmas Project is again planning to provide toys and gifts to over 300 eligible children in Murray County. We are accepting donations of toys and gifts for children 0 through 11 years of age. We also need stocking caps and mittens. Monetary gifts are also accepted to help with the purchase of gift items.

Ladies, I don’t think I’m the only one, but I made it again by a thread! So thankful to live close to grandparents (to help with kids and keep the harvesters fed) and the invention of the folding corn head (I had to help with this in the past)! Time to pick up the pieces and get back to usual busy, rather than insanely busy! As life settles a bit between seasons, I challenge the gals to take a little pause and inventory your health.

DINEHART-HOLT LUNCHBOX LECTURE

The Murray County Historical Society invites the public to attend its November Lunchbox Lecture on Thursday, November 13th, 2025, in the 4-H building on the Murray County Fairgrounds in Slayton starting at noon. This month’s lecture will feature author Naomi Helen Yaeger Blooming on her new book, “Blooming Hollyhocks: Tales of Joy During Hard Times”—a memoir-like true story of her mother, Janette Minehart, growing up in 1930s Avoca.

Twenty-five years ago, Fulda Heritage Society, along with the support of the city, its organizations and citizens, committed to memorializing those veterans who fought in wars from the Civii War through to the War in Iraq.
