I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about Dementia. Dementia is the main term used to describe the decline of memory or thinking skills, including judgement, reasoning and complex motor skills. There are several different types of Dementia that fall under that umbrella term. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common in people aged 65 and older. As you can see in the diagram below, there are several other forms of dementia.

TINA BENGTSON RETIRES FROM MCC

Bengtson spent her entire career with the district, teaching primarily fifth- and sixthgrade language arts, while also spending time in third and fourth grades.

THREE AREA MEN FLY WITH MIDWEST HONOR FLIGHT 29

By Norma Dittman When the Midwest Honor Flight Mission 29 out of Sioux Falls took to the skies on Tuesday, May 5th, three area men were among the 84 veterans on board. Those men were Jim Oslund and Bill Bryan, Slayton, and Tom Noerenberg, Currie.

MCC GRADUATES 62 STUDENTS

Murray County Central High School held its 2026 commencement ceremony May 15, celebrating 62 graduates during an evening program featuring music, student speakers and the presentation of diplomas. The ceremony opened with a welcome from Rachael Huso, followed by vocal and instrumental selections performed during the program.

NEW PUMP TRUCK ARRIVES AT CURRIE FIRE DEPARTMENT

Currie Fire Department is happy to announce that they recently took delivery of a brandnew pump truck. It will be replacing our current back-up truck that is a 1974 Chevy.

FULDA BREAKS GROUND FOR NEW BUILDING PROJECT

May 18 in the afternoon was a time of great excitement for Fulda School students, staff, school board and area residents as a ground breaking was held for the new building project. Manning the golden shovels were representatives from every grade level.

GRAVE MARKER SHOT IN SLAYTON CEMETERY

Just days before Memorial day, Slayton American Legion Commander Brad Pagel was out checking cemeteries to prepare for the upcoming services and discovered that a World War II Veteran’s grave marker had been vandalized. The marker has holes in it consistant with being shot.
