COMMISSIONERS REMAND TOWER CUP BACK TO PLANNING COMMISSION

The Murray County Commissioners on Tuesday, June 2 had three conditional use permits (CUP) on their agenda, one of which drew a small crowd into the Government Center. The CUP for potential construction of a telecommunications tower by The Towers, LLC was not acted upon by the commissioners, but was instead remanded back to the Planning Commission.

SLAYTON CITY COUNCIL APPROVES ALLEY VACATION

Slayton City Council met in regular session on June 1, 2026 with all members present. After approving the minutes from the last meeting, they approved the payment of bills. There were no notices or communications.

REBELS QUALIFY THREE ENTRIES FOR STATE, BOBELDYK EARNS SECTION COACH OF THE YEAR

Murray County Central will send three entries to the Minnesota State Track and Field Championships after a successful showing at the Section 3A Championships in Pipestone. The Rebels qualified the boys 4x800-meter relay team, senior thrower Gabe Wolske, and eighth-grade standout Charley Holm while finishing fifth in the boys team standings and 15th in the girls competition.

REBEL BOYS WIN SECTION 3A SEMI-FINAL

The MCC baseball team played in the Section 3A semifinal on Saturday afternoon at Irish Yard. The Rebels took on the Dawson Boyd Blackjacks for the second time this season. Both teams were undefeated in the playoffs coming into the game. The winner would advance to the section final on Thursday, the loser of the game would play Tuesday for a second chance to get to the title games. The Rebels beat the Blackjacks during the regular season 5-3 in a nine inning nail biter. That would not be the case on Saturday.
