Just days before Memorial day, Slayton American Legion Commander Brad Pagel was out checking cemeteries to prepare for the upcoming services and discovered that a World War II Veteran’s grave marker had been vandalized. The marker has holes in it consistant with being shot.

Murray County Sheriff-Heath Landsman posted on Facebook, “I cannot believe we have someone amongst us who would deface a war hero’s grave marker.”

Sheriff Landsman is asking for assistance with information on who may have done such a thing. Anyone with information can contact his office at 507-836-6168.

“My office will do all we can to ensure the person or persons responsible, are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” the post states.
