This is the week of the annual Murray County Fair. Thankfully it is back in operation - not held last year due to the Virus concerns.

Hadley came into the 3rd place series for the Region 13C’s final state tournament spot as a heavy underdog against the Windom Pirates. Not much was expected of Hadley after their previous playoff series play, but Hadley has had the Pirates’ number over the last 3 years; having eliminating Windom out of the play-offs, so it was expected that this series would be a hardfought battle with Windom looking for a measure of revenge. Anyone that attended this series can attest to the grittiness and pride of the underdog Buttermakers showed in the series. Unfortunately for Hadley their run of consecutive State tourney appearances would end at 6 as the Pirates held off the Buttermakers in an exciting series. Here is the series recap:

Murray County 4-H clothing project members completed their exhibit judging as well as Fashion Revue judging on August 10. 4-H youth spent the day exhibiting their projects with the judge, and hosting a fashion revue for the public Tuesday evening. Performing Arts judging was held the same day. Dancing, playing piano and storytelling were the highlights of the day. The results are:

Answer: State Troopers often encounter motorists pulling trailers that are experiencing breakdowns. Most often it involves a flat tire or trailer wheel bearing.

Slayton, MN, 08-13-2013 – A substantial rise in the price of material and construction costs have delayed the start of the proposed Assisted Living Community in Slayton, MN. “The biggest message we would like the Slayton Community to understand is that MN Signature Care remains 100% committed to bringing this project to completion in Slayton.” says Matt Pallansch, President of MN Signature Care.

The Murray County Board of Commissioners met in a short session on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. Chair Dennis Walgraven, Commissioners Jim Kluis and Lori Gunnink were present with Commissioner Molly Malone joining them via Zoom.

The Slayton City Council met on Monday, August 16th. The meeting was called to order and the agenda was approved with additions. The meeting minutes were reviewed and approved as were the claims for the beginning of August.

The University of South Dakota Dean’s List for the Spring 2021 semester includes full-time, undergraduate students who have achieved a 3.5 grade point average or higher. Jordyn Wiekeraad was featured on the list, daughter of Sherry Hennings, Tom and Desi Wiekeraad, granddaughter of Rich and Arlis Hennings..

School is just around the corner and will be here before you know it. With all the busyness of summer and the rush to be ready for the upcoming school year, back-to-school physicals can be easily forgotten.
