WRESTLERS HAVE A BUSY WEEK

The FMCC Warriors had another busy week with a triangular in Springfield against Springfield and the Adrian Dragons. There was much anticipation going into the Tri for another chance at Adrian but the Dragons would be a bit too much as the Warriors lost at some of the earlier weights where they had wins before.

Teague Meyer was the first wrestler out of the stable as he would take on Travis Weiss of Adrian. Weiss came out looking for a win as the last time these two met the match went into overtime. This time Meyer would have a hard time getting on the offense as the score went 6-1 Weiss putting 3 team points into Adrians pocket.

Lucas Kuball was next up at 113lbs and put on a dominating performance in the first period with an early takedown against Moe Erdman of Adrian. Kuball would give up two penalty points early which would be the deciding factor of the match. Erdman took the match 5-3 making the team score 6-0 Adrian.

Caleb Rosenbrook in his varsity wrestling debut went against Jesse Bullerman of Adrian and wrestled very good the first period went pretty slow as both wrestlers both got a stall warning. Caleb had an excellent double leg at the end of the first period but wasn’t able to finish. To start the second period Rosenbrook would start in the top referees position where Bullerman would fight for a reversal and hold Rosenbrooks back to the mat for a 3 point nearfall. No quit was had by Rosenbrook as he fought out of the hold and continue to wrestle 3 periods. Rosenbrook would score in the third period with a stall point given up by Bullerman. 9-0 Adrian

Quinten Lewis went up against Bruce Farinella and never found his groove giving up 7 points and 3 team points. 12-0 Adrian

Denver Ash received a win by forfeit followed by a loss by pin for Aiden Lorenzen against Carlos Castillo. Making the score 18-6

Owen Olsem also gave up a decision but not with out a fight as Reese Morrison a 10th grader for the Warriors scored 8 points to Olsems 4. Olsem after going two periods and fighting through a nearfall came back to score two takedowns of his own in the heart of the third period. 21-6 Adrian

Carter Benda gave the Warrior team some overtime excitement against Rilee Heidebrink an escape by each wrestler would send them into overtime at 1-1 and Carter Benda stayed on his toes and wrestled tough and secured a perfece double leg takedown to obtain the win. 21-9 Adrian

Devin Landsman took a forfeit at 160 followed by Carson Klein who went up against Quentin Wolf and lost to a fall a minute into the first period. 27- 15 Adrian

Christian Kuball at 182 would put Micah Bullerman to his back and secure the pin after another excellent takedown. 27-21 Adrian

Colby Kesteloot and Ryder Henning both took falls followed by Rylan Klein who lost by decision to Roberto Hernandez. 42-21 Adrian

It was a much better story when the Warriors went up against the Springfield Tigers as the Tigers had a few holes on their roster and the Warriors did not. Teague Meyer and Torrin Clark both had open weights and took forfeits bringing the Warriors to an early lead. 12-0 Warriors

Lucas Kuball at 120 fought a tough match with Wyatt Schmidt of Springfield and to a loss by pin. 12-6 Warriors

Quinten Lewis took a forfeit followed by 4 consecutive pins by the warriors Ash, Olsem, Lorenzen, and Benda.32-6 Warriors. Denver Ash in his match against the Tigers Kody Bast got to the outside in a single leg and got the armbar and held him for a nearfall in the 1st period. The second period was much the same as Denver would start in a neutral position and circle around for the two takedown points then run another armbar for the nearfall. With a score of 10-0 Ash going into the third period Ash would start in the bottom position and quickly get the 2 point reversal and turn Bast over in a reverse headlock for the fall.

Owen Olsem for his match against Paytin Johnson of springfield got a sweet single leg and a reverse headlock for the pin.

Aiden Lorenzen dominated Alex Moudry of Springfield for two periods before the fall. Lorenzen was able to finish his moves and score 9 points be-

Carter fore the fall. With a takedown and two nearfalls in the first period. In the second period Lorenzen wasn’t going to give Bast a chance as he ran the legs an a turk for the pin.

Carter Benda came out hard scoring an early takedown on a hard double leg dumping Joe Jensen to the mat. Carter would cut Jensen hard before the second takedown in a go behind then held Jensen in a modified butcher for the pin.

Devin Landsman in his match against Gabe Weber was able to score 4 points in some exciting scrambling as the two wrestlers went back and forth on consecutive bridges for reversals and nearfalls. Devin ended up giving up the pin but not after putting up a fight. 32- 12 warriors

At the 170# bout was Carson Klein who gave up a fall to Ashtin Johnson

Christian Kuball wrestled up at 182 against Damien Honeman and got an early 2 points on a blast double leg putting Honeman to the mat. Then Kuball held Honeman in a cradle and stuck him for the pin. Bringing the score 38-18 warriors

Colby Kesteloot wrestled Houston Jensen and held on putting Jensen to the mat in a go behind takedown. Colby then would fight of a nasty headlock putting Jensen to the mat once more for a nearfall. Going into the second period with a commanding lead the wrestlers would start in a neutral position Jensen again would try a headlock but was unsuccessful as Colby fought it off. Colby was able to get Jensen in a tight butcher and score the pin. 44-18 Warriors

Ryder Henning wasted no time going to work on Sam Rummel getting his first takedown in a go behind then scored the pin in an unconventional manner in a modified cradle butcher. 50-18 Warriors

Rylan Klein went up against a goliath of a man in Shane Clemon and took a fall 30 seconds into the 1st period. The final score of the dual was 24-60.

The Warriors also went to the prairies of South Dakota and to the Lakes of northern Minnesota to attend tournaments this weekend. The Junior varsity 7-9 grade team attended the state JV wrestling tournament Benda in Mora Minnesota although they went 2 and out they witnessed some good competition. Hats are off to the parents willing to brave the weather and get the boys up there to have this experience. Every chance a wrestler gets to see new competition is good, win or lose. These boys are committed to the program and are always willing to learn.

The Varsity team traveled to Colton, South Dakota where Christian Kuball took third and Ryder Henning took 5th.

Coming up this week the Warriors are home against Madelia Truman and St. James on Thursday at the MCC Gym. Then on Friday they travel to Wabasso to take on Wabasso and Jackson County Central.
