Local group makes Grotto trip with community grant

On September 3rd, 44 members from at least 5 local congregations and their guests joined a bus tour to visit the Grotto in West Bend, Iowa. The excursion was prompted by a small “community” grant given to the Christ Lutheran Church Women by the Southwest ELCA Synod. Its purpose was to assemble an ecumenical cross section of people for a social experience and spiritual renewal. The Grotto (caves) presents an amazing arrangement of cave creations built from rocks and stones from around the world. Father Paul Dobberstein began this construction in 1912, to depict various Biblical stories and events. The group may be seeking similar excursions in the future, to continue the socializing and camaraderie of local participants!

MEETING REGARDING LEVEL 3 SEX OFFENDER SCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER 16

A Community Notification Meeting has been scheduled in regard to a Level 3 Sex Offender who has moved to Slayton. At the meeting, which will take place at 5:30 p.m. September 16 at the Murray County Central Auditorium in Slayton, representatives from the Minnesota Department of Corrections and the Slayton Police Department will be present to provide citizens with information and answer questions.

MINNESOTA DNR ASKS UPLAND BIRD HUNTERS TO VOLUNTARILY LOG HUNTING ACTIVITIES

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is inviting upland bird hunters to voluntarily log details about hunts for grouse, woodcock, pheasants, prairie chickens and partridge. Once the hunting seasons begin, bird hunters can use an upland bird hunting diary to share their observations.

VOLLEYBALL TEAM FALLS TO COYOTES

The MCC Rebels were on the road Tuesday night playing the Heron Lake Okabena Fulda Coyotes in the first game of the Red Rock Conference schedule. The Rebels entered the game riding a two game winning streak while the Coyotes were looking to bounce back after a tough tournament in Marshall over the weekend. A year ago the two teams squared off with the Rebels taking a 3-1 win. On Tuesday the Coyotes would flip the script on the Rebels.
